February ended well with a couple of gennaker chutes and rings being needed urgently for the Tornado trials out in Spain . Many thanks to Mark Self of Advantage Sails in Brightlingsea for making the chutes so quickly for us.
March has got off to a very wet cold start leaving little incentive to venture outside. Even so our continuous line headsail roller reefing system is selling well and a second batch of Shrimper gears is nearly ready to ship out to Cornish Crabbers for fitting to their Shrimper. Interest in the Scott Boomlock is beginning to pick up - not surprisingly it always drops off during the winter months - one has just been shipped to Canada and another will be going to Wales before the end of the week. We are hopeful that Paul and Rachel Chandler will decide to fit one to Lynn Rival - we will have to wait and see. Ian Bartlett has decided to fit one to his yacht prior to embarking on his epic sail around the UK. He already has on of our cl headsail systems fitted and we hope to get some video footage of both in action before he leaves.
We are fabricating a variety of work, the more unusual being a couple of sets of table legs using yachting materials, a microlight frame and tall banner masts. A wide range of other work including small catamaran parts, cl reefing systems, s/s fuel tanks, sprayhood frames, winch pads, sheaves, complete yacht mast and workboat fabrications are all needed before the end of the month.
CONGRATULATIONS Sara Sadler has now been with Sailspar doing the accounts for 25 years! David Beech has now achieved 41 years, Derrick Bright and John Lay Flurrie have clocked up 35 and 36 years respectively. That is a lot of knowledge and experience!
