External Tangs

Are through bolted with internal compression tubes and with tang plates to spread rig loads over a wide area of section. These are selected to suit the angle of the stay, the stay size and the rig size. They are made from 316 stainless steel, are highly polished and quality made.

This type of tang takes an eye terminal, and is made from stainless steel. It has 10 or 12 components depending on being single or double type. The set comprises of:

Two tangs
Two clevis pins
One tang stud
Two shroud reinforcing plates
One compression tube
Nut stud
and fixings

A compression tube is fitted from one side of the mast extrusion. The tangs are then fitted and held in position with the stud and nut. Clevis pins and split pins locate the shroud in the tang.

Internal Tangs

Internal Tangs are available. We have several different types of internal tang options. They are generaly cheaper than the external tangs and tend to have need larger holes in the section. They tend to fit inside one wall of the section.

T Terminals
A stainless steel backing plate is fitted through a hole or slot and is pop riveted to the inside wall of the mast extrusion. The backing plate is shaped so that the pressed part fits through the hole or slot.
The shroud wire terminal end is 'T' shaped and is fitted to the backing plate by twisting the shroud terminal by 90 degrees and locating into the shaped part of the backing plate.

Spoon Terminals
It is the same principle as a T terminal expept that the shroud terminal is shaped more like a spoon than a T so as to give better fit to the backing plate
.

Stemballs aka Cappell
The shroud wire terminal end looks a little like a mushroom. It can have its own backing plate which is fitted to the inside wall of the mast section or can fit spreader systems such as stainless steel through bars, cast root or cast mast head
