Meet the Team

David Beech has worked at Sailspar for 38 years and has been Managing Director for the last 20.  Olympic casualty of 1980 (remember those cancelled Games?)  David has years of experience, can see his way round most problems and is a  gold mine of information.   He can now be found in the workshop rather than behind a desk, turning his hand to wherever or whatever is needed – mast fitter, aluminium fabricator, rigger. 

Derrick Bright Director has been with Sailspar for 35 years.  He is in charge of production and buying.  If you place an order  he will be the person sorting  it out.

John Lay-Flurrie has been with Sailspar for 37 years and  specialises in rigging, both standing and running. Sailspar benefit hugely from his years of experience and multi skills  as he can turn his hand to most things. Customers benefit from his wisdom and advice.

Tony Goddard has been with Sailspar for 13 years and is a highly skilled fabricator, fabricating in both stainless steel and aluminium.  His welding is something to behold!  Rumor has it that he never breathes when he welds. 

Jim Haydon has been with Sailspar for 11 years.  He is the mast fitter and he assembles masts, booms, catamaran kits, spinnaker poles etc.   He is a very skilled and a very accurate craftsman.

Penny Beech has been with Sailspar for 12 years and is married to David.  She runs the office and will more than likely be your first point of contact either by phone or by email.  She does the quotations, sales orders, invoicing and money chasing.

Sara Sadler has been with Sailspar since leaving school 24 years ago.  She works part-time on the accounts and has the unenviable job of organising  the buying and production for all the catamaran kits we do.
