Mast Foot

Choosing Deck or Keel stepped depends ont he design of the boat. Taberbacle masts have tubes welded in to take on the compression and the bottom the section is filled in and angled so that the rear (or front of the section) clears the base of the tabernacle.

The tabernacle system is designed so that the weight of the rig is on the foot of the mast not the compression tubes.
